MEXIA EDC RECEIVES ECONOMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD
Plano, Texas: Mexia Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) received a Certificate of Achievement for Economic Excellence from the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC) at TEDC’s Mid-Year Conference in Plano on June 8, 2017. Texas is home to over 600 economic development organizations. In 2016 only 33 economic development organizations received Economic Excellence recognition from TEDC.
The Economic Excellence Recognition Program through TEDC is designed to encourage continued strengthening of the knowledge and skills of economic development professionals, volunteers, and elected officials throughout the state. The award provides recognition to economic development organizations that meet a desired threshold of professionalism. The criteria for the award include: continuing education and training; attainment of professional certifications by professional staff; implementation of best practices in the industry such as budgeting, strategic planning, and other organizational tools; and active membership in professional organizations.
Executive Director Susan Cates accepted the award on behalf of the MEDC Board of Directors and noted, “MEDC is pleased to have the positive work of our organization on behalf of the City of Mexia recognized by our peers in the economic development industry.” The MEDC Board of Directors are: Greg Stubbs-President, Alan Savage-Vice President, Kim Story-Secretary/Treasurer, Carolyn Anderson-Director, Marty Cargile-Director, Jeff Gipson-Director, and James Wiley-Director.
