The Mexia EDC is gearing up for Small Business Saturday on November 25! American Express launched the first Small Business Saturday on November 27, 2010. The following year, the US Senate passed a resolution to support Small Business Saturday as a nationally recognized day. In 2016, shoppers reported spending an estimated $15.4 billion at independent retailers and restaurants on Small Business Saturday. American Express continues to help communities grow by promoting this event in support of local businesses.
Shopping locally does more than just directly support that particular business you are shopping from; from an economic development standpoint, it also creates jobs for the community and provides a source of sales tax income for the city.
On November 25, the Mexia EDC will host a free vendor pop-up event in the heart of Mexia Downtown from 10am-2pm, complete with a bounce house, food, and plenty of local retailers to kick of the holiday shopping season.
Visit the American Express Shop Small website to take advantage of their Shop Small Studio to create customizable materials to market your business for Small Business Saturday. We also have promotional materials in our office for you to display at your businesses, so come on by and pick some up! The Mexia Economic Development Corporation fully supports our local businesses, so please contact us if you need any assistance in preparing for November 25. Mexia, Texas, we are here for you!
