JEWETT MINE TO CLOSE

JEWETT MINE TO CLOSE NRG Energy has notified Westmoreland Coal Company that it will cease utilizing lignite from the Jewett mine at the end of 2016. Therefore, Westmoreland’s operations at the mine will shift to reclamation of the land resulting in layoffs that will impact employees in the Limestone, Freestone, and Leon County areas.
